Saarstahl starts production at new blooming line in Völklingen

Germany-based long steel producer Saarstahl has announced that it has completed the replacement of its old blooming stand in the rolling mill in Völklingen with the new continuous blooming line with seven rolling stands with an investment of €30 million. With the modernization of the blooming stand, the company aims to increase its manufacturing know-how so as also to be able to meet its customer's wishes with regard to quality and flexibility optimally in the future. The new system offers a broader range of cross-sections for rolling, further improved quality and shorter cycle times. 
  
Saarstahl stated that the modernization of the new blooming line began in April last year, initial tests were carried out successfully in January this year, and the system was officially put into operation at the beginning of March.
