Russia’s ferrous metal export volume up 5.4 percent in January-October

Russia's ferrous metal export volume to the foreign countries in the January-October period this year increased by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the Russian Federal Customs Service.
 
In particular, in the given period, Russia’s pig iron exports increased by 17.5 percent and steel billets rose by 6.7 percent, while export of feroalloys decreased by 16.6 percent, all year on year. 
 
During the January-October period this year, Russia’s steel billet exports to CIS countries increased by 82.2 percent, while its flat product exports to the region decreased by 15.9 percent, both compared to the same period of the previous year. On the other hand, Russian flat steel product imports from CIS countries decreased by 8.9 percent, while its imports of steel pipes from these countries decreased by 50.2 percent, both year on year.
 
At the same time, in the first ten months of the current year, Russia’s imports of steel tubes and pipes from non-CIS countries decreased by 32.3 percent, while its flat product imports from these countries declined by 40.8 percent, both year on year.
