Russia issues January-August output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first eight months of this year Russia produced 38.1 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 14.4 percent, 5.7 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 39.2 percent, and 32.1 million metric tons of pig iron - up 15.4 percent, all compared to January-August 2009.
 
In addition, in January-August this year, the country registered a 10.2 percent increase in its coal mining output and a 14.9 percent rise in its iron ore concentrate output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 205 million and 63 million. In addition, Russia produced 3 million metric tons of iron ore pellets and briquettes in the period in question - down 1.6 percent, and 18 million metric tons of metallurgical coke - up 15.4 percent, both compared to the same period last year. 
 
Meanwhile, in August this year, Russia's finished steel product output went up by 1.7 percent, its pipe production increased by 5.5 percent, and its pig iron output rose by four  percent, all compared to July.
 
In August, Russia's coal output went up by 2.1 percent month on month, its metallurgical coke production increased by 2.2 percent, its iron ore concentrate output rose by 3.2 percent, while its iron ore pellet and briquette output decreased by 18.3 percent, all compared to July this year.
