According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first ten months of this year Russia produced 48 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 11.3 percent, 7.4 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 37.3 percent, and 40 million metric tons of pig iron - up 11.4 percent, all compared to January-October 2009.
In addition, in January-October this year, the country registered a 7.3 percent increase in its coal mining output and a 12.3 percent rise in its iron ore concentrate output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 259 million and 79.2 million. In addition, Russia produced 31 million metric tons of iron ore pellets (oxidized) in the period in question - up 14.7 percent, and 22.4 million metric tons of metallurgical coke - up 12 percent, both compared to the same period last year.
