Russia issues 2008 output results

According to the data released by Russia's Federal State Statistics Service, in 2008 the country registered a 3.9 percent rise in coal mining output but a 4.7 percent decrease in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 326 million and 99.9 million.
 
In addition, during the same period Russia produced 32 million metric tons of coke - down 5.6 percent, 56.6 million metric tons of finished steel products - down 5.1 percent, and 7.8 million metric tons of steel pipes - down 10.7 percent, all compared to 2007.
