Russia's federal agency for natural resource use (Rosnedra) has announced a tender for the right to develop coal in the area of the central western part of the Ulug-Khem coal basin in Russia's Tuva Republic.
According to Rosnedra, the area's proven and probable coal reserves of C1 category have been estimated at more than 283 million mt. The initial payment has been fixed at Ruble 589 million (about $19 million), with the winner to be determined on September 21 this year.
The coal reserves of the Ulug-Khem basin, among the largest in Russia, amount to about 20 billion mt, including 13.7 billion mt of coking coal.
