Ohio state regulators are considering an air pollution permit for slag processing at Lorain-based Republic Steel through a mill service firm.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency issued a draft air pollution permit for Stein Inc., a steel mill services company whose services include steel slag removal, reclamation of metallics and sales of slag.

Republic Steel produces special bar quality steel used for axles, drive trains, suspensions and other parts of cars, off-highway vehicles and industrial equipment.
