Republic Engineered suddenly closes facilities

North America's financially troubled special bar quality (SBQ) steelmaker Republic Engineered Products LLC has suddenly closed most of its facilities. The detailed explanation will be stated later by the company. The company has approximately 2'400 employees and operates steel plants in Canton and Lorain; rolling and finishing facilities in Canton, Lorain and Massaillon in Ohio. Republic Engineered Products LLC has established in August 2002 with the purchase of operating assets from Republic Technologies International by the two investor groups namely, KPS Special Situations Fund and Hunt International Group.
