The Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR) has announced that in April this year its Rostov-based subsidiary Rostov Electrometallurgical Works (REMZ) produced more than 61,200 mt of billets - up two percent compared to March.
In the first four months of the current year, REMZ registered a 57 percent increase year on year in its billet output to 204,800 mt, compared to 130,200 mt produced in the same period last year. Meanwhile, the plant's sales in January-April this year amounted to 203,700 mt, which almost matches the produced volume.
According to the company's statement, REMZ is fully secured with necessary raw materials, and plans to continue to operate at the designed capacity level.
In 2009, REMZ produced about 383,000 mt of billet. Commissioned in 2008, REMZ has an annual capacity of 730,000 mt of billets.
