Rautaruukki completes repair of its blast furnace

According to a statement released by Finnish steel producer Rautaruukki, the company has recently completed the repairs at No.2 blast furnace at its Raahe Steel Works. The repairs started on July 5, 2004. As scheduled, the blast furnace will start production in three days. The blast furnace was closed for 30 days. The production loss caused by the closure is stated to be 13'000 tons. However, this figure is lower than the forecasted production loss. The new cooling system installed at the furnace will increase both the capacity and the efficiency of the blast furnace by 5%.
