South Korean steelmaker POSCO on June 14 held a ground-breaking ceremony for POSCO-ISDC, its new distribution center near Dighi Port, Maharashtra, India, at Pune Marriott Hotel in the city of Pune, India.
The construction of the new distribution center aims at reducing logistics costs while improving the quality of related service, in preparation for an increase in exports to the country's mid-western areas.
"We will do our best to help POSCO-ISDC grow up to be a healthy company that will play a vital role in the growth of the local economy," senior vice president Oh In-hwan said during a speech at the ceremony.
Scheduled to open in December and featuring four cranes on the 33,058 square meter space, POSCO-ISDC is expected to handle 360,000 mt of steel products a year. It will be located 100 kilometers from POSCO IPPC and a CGL plant, which are expected to facilitate the movement of the products to and from the distribution center.
