South Korean steel giant POSCO has announced that the construction of POSCO-CLPC, the new processing center at the EU Economic Development Zone in Shenyang, China, was completed on July 28, with the center being commissioned on the same day.

A company statement said that the new processing center has been designed to cope with the increasing demand for steel in the Chinese northeastern provinces including Shenyang, the production center of the Chinese automotive industry. Automobile giants such as FAW, BMW China, GM and Volkswagen have been aggressively investing in the region, POSCO said.

POSCO-CLPC will process 170,000 mt of steel every year. Including POSCO-CLPC, POSCO now has 14 processing centers in China.
