POSCO breaks ground for construction of CGL No. 2 in Mexico

South Korean steel giant POSCO broke ground at the end of November for the construction of its continuous galvanizing line (CGL) No. 2 in Mexico which will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 mt. The new line wiill be added to the existing CGL No. 1 which was completed in August 2009 with a designed annual output capacity of 400,000 mt at Altamira in the state of Tamaulipas. The new CGL of POSCO in Mexico is scheduled for completion by June 2013.
 
POSCO, which is also operating POSCO-MPPC, a processing center for automotive steel sheets with an annual processing capacity of 170,000 mt in Puebia, Mexico, expects that the construction of its CGL No. 2 will help to ensure stable supply of its automotive steel sheets in Central and North America.
