Philippines’ vehicle sales down in November

Vehicle sales in the Philippines fell 4 percent year on year in November due to the new value-added tax law. The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) indicates that the country's vehicle sales amounted to 7'155 units in November. However, vehicle sales were up 10 percent year on year to 87'996 units in the first eleven months of 2005. Passenger car sales rose 7.5 percent year on year to 32'425 units in the first eleven months while commercial vehicle sales increased 12 percent to 55'571 units. Total vehicle sales are expected to increase 8 percent year on year to 95'000 units this year.
