Peruvian iron ore export prices improve in November

Peruvian iron ore export prices have slightly improved in November, according to data released by the nation’s central bank, BCRP.

Peruvian iron ore export prices in November rose 4.3 percent, month-on-month, to USD 26.2/mt, from USD 25.1/mt in October. Despite the increase in the month-on-month analysis, export prices declined 31.2 percent in the year-on-year comparison.

The commodity’s export volumes were stable in November 2015 at 1 million mt, same as November 2014, but slightly lower when compared to the 1.2 million mt of the product the country exported in October 2015.

Average export prices in the accumulated period from January to November 2015 reached USD 31/mt, down from USD 57.9/mt in the same period of the year prior. Export volumes remained the same at 10.7 million mt, with zero growth.
