A group of entrepreneurs in Peru and Turkey met last week in Lima to discuss the import of steel products from Turkey to Peru, according to Monica Chavez, foreign trade manager of the Lima chamber of commerce (CCL).

Chavez said that between 2021 and 2022 exports of steel products from Turkey to Peru reached 927,000 mt.

She added that the plans discussed during the meeting included increasing such imports to 1.5 million mt between 2024 and 2026, which would mean an eight percent increase on a per-year basis.

According to the local press, Ugur Dalbeler, vice president of the Turkish association of steel exporters, a similar effort to increase steel exports will be directed to Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.
