Peru and Bolivia have inked a mining cooperation agreement, Bolivia’s mining ministry announced.

Under the bilateral agreement, the two countries will share their expertise related to the regulation and the control of the illegal trade of minerals, among other topics, said Cesar Navarro, Bolivia’s mining minister.

The agreement also seeks to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, facilitate the exchange of experiences and the formalization of small and family-oriented mining activities as well as to improve the management and environmental regulation and the use of clean technologies in the mining segment.

“We have a great challenge, the technological advancement. This is why such agreements in [such] producing segments are always important,” said Bolivian President Evo Morales.
