Finnish mining and metal manufacturing equipment provider Outotec has announced that it has agreed with Swedish miner LKAB regarding the design and turnkey delivery of a gas cleaning plant to LKAB's iron ore pellet plant in Malmberget, Sweden.
The order, approximately worth €38 million, has been booked in Outotec's order intake in the fourth quarter of 2012. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2014.
According to Outotec's statement, the new gas cleaning plant to be delivered by Outotec will further clean the off-gases at the existing MK3 iron ore pelletizing plant from sulfur dioxide, fluorides, chlorides and dust to meet the European Union's new higher environmental legislation requirements that will be in force as of 2016.
