Outotec to deliver its third ferrochrome plant in China

Finnish mining and metal manufacturing equipment provider Outotec has announced that it has signed an agreement with Baotou, Inner Mongolia, China-based Mintal Group Co. (Mintal), a large manufacturer of ferrochrome and stainless steel, for the design and delivery of a new ferrochrome plant. The contract marks Outotec's third delivery of its energy-efficient ferrochrome plant to China. The contract value exceeds €25 million and has been booked in Outotec's order intake for the fourth quarter of 2015.

Outotec's scope of delivery includes engineering and supply of proprietary and other key equipment for a steel belt sintering plant with an annual capacity of 700,000 mt of sintered pellets and two smelting furnaces with preheating technology. The new plant will annually produce 300,000 mt of ferrochrome and is expected to become operational in the current year.
