In July this year, the unemployment rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries remained stable at 5.8 percent compared to June, according to new figures published by the OECD. The number of unemployed in the OECD region in July was 36.2 million people, 3.6 million more than before the crisis in April 2008.
In July, the unemployment rate for the euro area was at 9.1 percent, stable month on month. In the given month, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points in Canada to 6.3 percent, decreased by 0.2 percentage point in Israel to 4.1 percent, fell by 0.2 percentage points in South Korea to 3.6 percent, declined 0.1 percentage point in Mexico to 3.2 percent, decreased by 0.1 percentage point in the US to 4.3 percent and remained stable in Japan at 2.8 percent, all compared to June.
