Japanese stainless steel producer Nippon Steel & Sumikin Company (NSSC), a joint venture of Japanese companies Sumitomo Corporation and Nippon Steel Trading Company, has announced its plan to expand output and sales of its FW series ferritic stainless steel products.

NSSC launched the commercial production of Forward 1 (FW1: 14 percent Cr-0.1 percent Sn) and Forward 2 (FW2: 16 percent Cr-0.3 percent Sn) ferritic stainless steel in 2010. The development of these products has largely reduced consumption of alloy and raw material consumption and costs in production. In the coming two to three years, NSSC plans to expand its annual output of these products to 30,000 mt from the current production capacity of 10,000 mt.
