Nippon Steel to reduce plate production

Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) announced plans to reduce its steel plate production for construction and industrial machinery due to rising inventories. NSC is expected to cut back plate production by 50'000 tons from what it had planned to produce during the October-December period. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the company announced production cutbacks for sheet products for the second half of the current fiscal year ending March 2006.
