New orders in German construction industry up 30.5% in Oct

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total price-adjusted value of orders received by building construction and civil and underground engineering enterprises in Germany increased by 30.5 percent in October this year, compared to the same month of the previous year.

In October, building construction demand increased by 17 percent, while demand in civil and underground engineering was up by 47.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in building construction amounted in October this year to around €9.4 billion, indicating an increase of 4.9 percent compared to October 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of the current year the total price-adjusted value of orders in the construction industry increased by 6.3 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year. In January-October, the total turnover of the German construction industry amounted to approximately €75.7 billion, with an increase of two percent from the same period of 2011.
