In late March (March 21-31) this year, the average price in China of 20 mm HRB 400E rebar increased by RMB 2.7/mt ($0.4/mt) or 0.1 percent to RMB 3,191.8/mt ($463/mt), compared to the price in mid-March (March 11-20), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics. In the given period, the average prices of medium steel plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), seamless steel pipes and angles increased by 0.8 percent, 0.6 percent, 0.2 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively, though the average price of wire rod decreased by 0.1 percent, all compared to mid-March.
