MMK sees record finished steel shipments to Russian market in May

Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in May this year it shipped more than 730,000 mt of finished steel products to the Russian domestic market, constituting an all-time record shipment volume for the company.

In May this year, MMK exported 115,000 mt of its 948,000 mt of commercial finished steel products produced in the month, accounting for 12 percent of shipments. In addition, in May the company shipped 101,000 mt of finished steel products to other CIS countries in May and more than 730,000 mt to the Russian domestic market.
In 2012, MMK's shipments to the Russian domestic market increased by 16 percent year on year to 7.5 million mt, shipments to other CIS countries went up by three times to 920,000 mt, while the company's exports amounted to about 2.6 million mt, down 26 percent year on year.
