Mittal USA to idle furnace, return another to service

Mittal USA reports that it will restart its C-6 blast furnace in Cleveland in anticipation of idling its C-5 furnace. C-6 has been shut down since May when the company took it offline to perform some scheduled maintenance. Mittal will restart the furnace on August 23. The company then intends to take its C-5 furnace offline in October for maintenance and thereafter return it to service when market conditions merit. Mittal will use plant employees to assist in the repairs as well as other duties during the idling.
