According to the announcement released by Japan-based Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, total global auto production of the company in August this year amounted to 82,351 units, down 8.3 percent on the same month last year.
In August, Mitsubishi Motors' production volume in Japan reached 40,431 units, decreasing 19.2 percent year on year. Passenger car output in Japan in August was 36,873 units, decreasing 16.5 percent, while commercial vehicle output was 3,558 units, down 39.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Motors' overseas production volume in August totaled 41,920 units, up 5.5 percent year on year. Of this figure, output in Asia (excluding Japan) reached 32,395 units, up 3.5 percent year on year. In North America, output reached 4,217 units, increasing by 30.4 percent, in Europe output totaled 1,828 units, up 1.2 percent, while in South America output reached 3,210 units, increasing by 4.9 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
In addition, Mitsubishi Motors' vehicle sales in Japan in August totaled 9,652 units, down 37.6 percent year on year - the 11th consecutive year-on-year decrease since September 2010. Sales of passenger cars reached 7,373 units, down 38.7 percent, while sales of commercial vehicles reached 2,279 units, down 33.8 percent, both compared to the same month last year.
