MIIT: Flexibility needed in elimination of disqualified raw material capacities

At a meeting held in Beijing by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) to discuss the elimination of disqualified raw material capacities, MITT official Chen Yanhai said that one of the main reasons for the difficulties in the elimination of disqualified capacities is the great difference between the east and west of China as well as between urban and rural areas as regards development levels, the market situation and technologies. As a result, he said, it is important to use a flexible approach in dealing with the elimination of disqualified capacities.

Mr. Chen stressed that, when eliminating the capacities in question, the first and the most important rule is to strictly control the launch of new capacities.
