Mexico’s industrial production declines 0.9 percent in April

Mexico’s industrial production declined 0.9 percent in April, year-on-year, and 0.7 percent, month-on-month, according to data released by the nation’s statistics agency, Inegi.

Inegi said output at the mining segment diminished 3.5 percent in April, year-on-year, and 2 percent, month-on-month.

Following the same downtrend, industrial production at the local civil construction and the manufacturing industries fell 0.1 and 1.6 percent, year-on-year, respectively, and 0.1 and 0.7 percent, month-on-month.

The only industrial sector to see an increase in output was the utilities segment, which includes the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, water and gas through pipes to the final consumer. Output at the utilities segment rose 3.2 percent in April, year-on-year, and 0.6 percent, month-on-month.
