Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, has extended this week an existing 15 percent provisional duty over certain steel imports. The duty will be extended for another 6 months, effective on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
The duty, which had expired earlier this month, applies to the imports of slab, CRC, HRC, heavy plate and wire rod from China as well as from other countries with which Mexico does not have trade agreements.
The duty was first introduced in October 2015 for six months and then renewed several times.
