Mexican CRC consumption up 19.5 percent in October

Apparent consumption of cold rolled coils (CRC) in Mexico increased by 19.5 percent, year-over-year, in October to 429,000 metric tons (mt), the seventeenth consecutive annual increase, according to Canacero data, reviewed by SteelOrbis. Production in Mexico of CRC increased 28.5 percent, year-over-year, to 302,000 mt.

In the given month, CRC imports to Mexico decreased 1.5 percent to 131,000 mt and exports decreased 50.0 percent to 4,000 mt.

In the January-October period, consumption was 4.10 million mt, 16.2 percent or 573,000 mt more than in the same period in 2023. Production totaled 2.68 million mt, 8.9 percent more.
