Ural Steel, a steel producing subsidiary of Russian iron ore and steel producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest), has announced that in January-April this year it increased its special bridge steel deliveries, supplying a total of 49,000 mt, which is 150 percent of the 2009 level.
"In 2009, our share in the Russian bridge steel market amounted to about 75 percent," Metalloinvest Managing Co.'s sales director Andrey Prosyanik said. "It is important for us to take part in infrastructural projects, which help us to secure long-term contracts and develop special steel grades to satisfy every customer's needs," he added.
Currently, Urals Steel supplies about 12,000-15,000 mt per month of special bridge steel to Russian bridge builders, including Kurganstalmost, Ulan-Udestalmost, as well as bridge builders from Omsk, Vladivostok, Nizhniy Tagil, Chelyabinsk and other Russian cities.
"Exclusive steel grades developed by Ural Steel meet all the requirements of bridge builders and have earned numerous awards at international steel exhibitions," reads the company's statement, which added that the reconstruction of the plant's rolling mill 2800 in 2008-2009 gave a huge boost to production and quality.
