Mechel’s Southern Kuzbass ups coal output by 50 percent in Jan-Sept

Southern Kuzbass Coal Company, a subsidiary of the Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, has announced that in the first nine months of the current year it increased its coal output by 50 percent year on year to 10.45 million mt, including 5.2 million mt of coking coal - up 55 percent year on year.

In September, Southern Kuzbass' coal output amounted to 1.216 million mt, including 633,000 mt of coking coal.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Mechel is continuing the construction of the second stage of Southern Kuzbass' Sibirginsk coal mine, upon completion of which the mine's production volume should reach 2.4 million mt per year.
