Mechel launches waste water cleansing equipment at mining division

Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and metals companies, has launched a new biochemical facility at Mechel-Coke, mining division of Mechel. The launch of this new facility is a part of Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's long-term environment protection program.

With the new biochemical facility, the company will be able to cleanse all of the waste water produced by Mechel-Coke and decrease waste emissions by half.

Total investment made in construction of the biochemical facility amount to Ruble 900 million ($27.5 million).
