Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that successful hot testing has been held at the complex of Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's universal rolling mill.

During hot testing, the mill produced its first batch of structural shapes, specifically of 25SH1-type bar. This is the first type of steel product that the universal rolling mill will produce.

The entire cycle of structural shape production was hot tested, from billet heating and hot rolling to correcting, cutting into measured sizes, and packaging. Currently, tests are being carried out on the steel produced. Later, other types of rolled profiles will be produced.

Preparation work is being completed for the launch of rail processing equipment, while preparations are also being carried out for the hot testing of rail production.
