Mechel commissions new mining equipments

The Russian steel producer and mining company Mechel has announced the commission of new modern backhoe excavators at its iron ore subsidiary Korshunov Mining Plant and at deposits of its nickel mining subsidiary Southern Urals Nickel Plant.

The new equipments aim at increasing Mechel's efficiency in both iron ore and nickel mining and at reducing the production costs.

The installation of new excavators is in line with Mechel's technical re-equipment program.

The total cost of equipments is approximately Ruble 167 million ($6.5 million)
