Mechel-Coke to restart 480,000 mt capacity coke oven battery

Russian mining and steel group Mechel plans in April-May 2010 to restart operations at one more coke oven battery, with 480,000 mt annual capacity, at Mechel-Coke, a subsidiary of its Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, considering the improvements in market conditions, Russian information agency Prime-Tass has reported citing Mechel senior vice president Vladimir Polin.

In 2009, Mechel produced 3.233 million mt of coke, registering a three percent decrease year on year.
