Manganese ore exports via Port Hedland increase further in June

In June this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 167,500 metric tons, increasing by 6.35 percent from 157,500 metric tons in May and up 131.03 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.

In June, China was the top destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland, receiving 105,500 mt, up 15.3 percent compared to May and up 45.52 percent year on year. In June this year, China was followed by India, which received 62,000 mt of manganese ore.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
