Manganese ore exports via Australia’s Port Hedland fall in June from May

In June this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland increased 61.64 percent year on year and were down 3.20 percent month on month, totaling 163,010 metric tons, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.
 
According to the released information, manganese ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 97,010 metric tons in June, increasing by 85.31 percent year on year but down 23.1 percent as compared to May. In June this year, manganese ore exports to China accounted for 59.51 percent of total manganese ore exports from Port Hedland, compared to 51.91 percent in June 2010.
 
Ukraine was the second biggest export destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland in June, with shipments totaling 66,000 metric tons - up 36 percent compared to June 2010. No manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland to Ukraine had been recorded in May this year.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
