Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9 million mt in July this year, decreasing by 4.2 percent compared to June, according to the company's announcement. Ten percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in July was coking coal.
According to the the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in July this year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 54.32 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to South Korea made up 16.31 percent of the total.
PWCS accounts for one third of Austrlia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
