Iron ore exports via Port Hedland to China hit a new record in Aug

In August this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland hit a new record monthly volume of 37.38 million metric tons, increasing by 3.59 percent compared to the previous volume in July and were up 36.47 percent year on year.
 
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in August iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to a record monthly volume of 32.03 million metric tons, increasing by 4.78 percent compared to the previous record volume seen in July and up 43.88 percent compared to the same month of 2013. South Korea and Japan followed China in August this year, receiving 2.69 million mt and 1.91 million mt respectively.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
