Manganese ore exports via Port Hedland down 25 percent in September

In September this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 172,691 metric tons, decreasing by 32.81 percent from 257,000 metric tons in August and down 24.94 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.

Meanwhile, in September China was the leading destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland, receiving 97,191 metric tons, down 62.18 percent compared to August and decreasing by 57.76 percent year on year. China was followed by India, which received 75,500 metric tons of manganese ore exports from Port Hedland in the given month.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
