Malaysia initiates safeguard investigation for hot rolled plate imports

Malaysia has initiated a safeguard investigation against hot rolled plate imports after the complaint filed by the domestic producer Ji Kang Dimensi Sdn Bhd, according to the country's official gazette on Monday, August 18.
 
According to the statement, the investigation specifically excludes hot rolled steel plate products to be used in the electronic industry and automotive industry and to be used in boiler and pressure vessel applications.
 
Hot rolled plate imports into Malaysia in 2013 increased by 25.6 percent year on year to 367,172 mt.
 
The products subject to safeguard investigation currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208.51.000, 7208.52.000 and 7225.40.000.
