Malaysia imposes preliminary safeguard duty on hot rolled plate

The Malaysian government has announced that it has imposed a preliminary safeguard duty on hot rolled plate imports, effective as of Sunday, December 14.
 
After finding that there was an increase in imports of the said product in absolute terms during the period of injury determination between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013, the government imposed a safeguard duty of 23.93 percent.
 
The final determination will be announced within a period of two hundred days from December 14.
 
The products subject to safeguard duty currently fall within the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208.51.000, 7208.52.000 and 7225.40.000.
