The explosion of gunpowder at the Bulgarian army ammunition storage facility located in Kremikovtzi, just a few kilometers away from the Bulgarian steelmaker of the same name, has had no impact on the mill's operations, a company representative has confirmed to SteelOrbis.
"The plant is continuing normal operations and the situation does not require any special safety measures. Routine measurements of air and radiation indexes are there as on a regular basis; they give no cause for concern. The protection system of the plant is as per the requirement of the standards and care for these standards concerns the whole staff. No evacuation has been ordered. Nothing is broken or damaged, and there is no need for panic in the plant. Our staff is taking care so that the necessary safety will remain ensured," the representative of the mill stated in clarification of the latest situation.
