Russian pig iron and coking coal producer KOKS Group has announced that it idled its blast furnace No. 2 (BF No. 2) at its Tulachermet pig iron plant on Tuesday, May 28, for a period of up to 35 days for maintenance works. The shutdown will result in a 30 percent decrease in Tulachermet's production capacity and a loss of 63,000 mt in basic pig iron output.

KOKS stated that ,since there is market stagnation and, as a result, a reduction of pig iron prices, this is the most advantageous time to start the maintenance works. Meanwhile, the production efficiency of blast furnace No.2 will increase after the completion of maintenance work.
