According to the State Statistics Committee of Kazakhstan, in the January-June period of the current year Kazakhstan produced 1.987 million mt of crude steel, down 20.4 percent year on year. In June alone, the country produced 341,800 mt of crude steel, up 18.8 percent month on month.
Production of flat steel in Kazakhstan in the first half of this year decreased by 11.4 percent to 1.457 million mt, while domestic production of galvanized rolled steel in this period declined by 11.7 percent to 273,600 mt, both year on year.
In the first six months of 2012, Kazakhstan saw its ferroalloy production rise by 0.3 percent year on year to 844,800 mt.
