ArcelorMittal Temirtau to invest $21 million in new ladle furnace

ArcelorMittal Temirtau, the largest metallurgical enterprise in Kazakhstan, has announced that it will invest $21 million in a new ladle furnace in order to increase steel production.

ArcelorMittal Temirtau stated that the preparatory stage of the construction of the ladle furnace is being completed and the commissioning of the furnace is scheduled for the end of the second quarter of 2018. The new 290-ton ladle furnace will improve the technological process of steelmaking, improve operational safety and also improve quality.

The company’s deputy director for production, Vladimir Yablonsky, stated that currently two 290-ton ladle furnaces are operating in the company and, after commissioning of the third ladle furnace, ArcelorMittal Temirtau will be able to increase its steel production to five million mt per year by 2020.
