According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first nine months of this year the country registered a 5.5 percent increase year on year in its crude steel production but a six percent year-on-year decrease in its production of flat rolled steel, to about 3.16 million mt and 2.14 million mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate production for the given period amounted to 155,412 mt - up three percent compared to January-September 2009.
In January-September this year, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by 25.5 percent year on year to 1.3 million mt, its iron ore production increased by 134.5 percent to 37.83 million mt, while its iron ore pellet production went up by 51.4 percent to 5.88 million mt, all compared to the same period last year. The country's coal output during the first nine months of this year increased by 13.5 percent year on year to 78.13 million mt, while its coke output went down 2.4 percent year on year to 1.96 million mt.
