According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in January-May this year the country registered a 4.57 percent increase year on year in its crude steel production but a 9.3 percent year-on-year decrease in its production of flat rolled steel, to 1.634 million mt and 1.12 million mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate production amounted to 89,138 mt - up 17.65 percent, and its galvanized steel output amounted to 235,831 mt - up 8.6 percent, both compared to January-May 2009.
In the first five months of this year, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by 42.1 percent year on year to 716,060 mt, its iron ore production increased by 155.4 percent to 20.18 million mt, while its iron ore pellets production went up by 128.4 percent to 3.56 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
